The Paddington Society is part of Doing Density Better, an alliance of community groups who are concerned Sydney is under threat from poor planning and unchecked rezoning and redevelopment.
Sydney is facing planning decisions that will shape our neighbourhoods forever while destroying cultural and heritage streetscapes which add local character and amenity. Right now, the government is not listening and is ignoring and dismissing growing community concerns.
Clearly, separated and as individual groups we are having little impact so the Doing Density Better Alliance is bringing communities together from across Sydney for a special event:
Rise Up, Sydney – A Conversation in the Park
Saturday 17 October, 2:00pm
Goddard Park
16 Park Avenue Concord NSW 2137, Australia
This is bigger than any one suburb. It’s about people, homes, parks, schools and transport being planned properly and not sold off to developers for luxury apartments, while councils and communities are left out of the conversation and residents are
being forced out of their neighbourhoods.
We need to expose the facts around minimal ‘affordability’ of new apartments and highlight the lack of infrastructure planning to accommodate this massive increase in residents.
Here’s what we need from you:
1. Come along on Saturday 17 October 2026 and bring people with you.
This only works if the park is full. Bring your family, your neighbours, your friends. Please carpool if you can. The bigger the crowd, the harder we are to ignore.
2. Tell your neighbours
If you live near a rezoning, a a redevelopment, site, or an area earmarked for change, your neighbours need to know more about what is coming as many won’t have heard yet.
3. Share by email
Share this link with friends, work colleagues and locals. The future of Sydney is at stake here.
4. Register your attendance. This is essential.
We need accurate numbers to plan the day properly: seating, sound, and yes, the democracy sausage. If you are coming please scan the QR code above or RSVP and ask everyone coming with you to do the same.
Large numbers on the day are how this event gets taken seriously by media, by candidates, and by the government itself. If we can’t show up in force, we won’t be heard.
This is not NIMBYism, it’s citizenship. Good planning benefits everyone: affordable homes for sale or rent near work and family, and infrastructure that means schools and parks, not just another tower.
Please get involved and help your local community. Thank you from the Doing Density Better Team and the Paddington Society.
