Views to Die for Cover FrontWelcome to the next compelling talk in Paddington Society’s “Conversations” series of events. This talk by author Mark Skelsey leverages his research and experience as an author and journalist with a strong interest in urban affairs, bringing a unique perspective and insights to current debates around development, housing, and heritage.

Mark’s book “Views To Die For” was published alongside the 50th anniversary of the disappearance and presumed murder of Kings Cross publisher Juanita Nielsen. It tells the incredible inside story of the urban warfare which changed Sydney forever.

The book reveals what Nielsen was fighting for and shows how the urban warfare leading to her death sparked significant societal and policy changes in areas such as heritage, affordable housing, planning consultation and police corruption.

Some of these reforms are now the subject of heated debate as Sydney and Australia face housing affordability problems.
