Drinks and snacks are provided by a kind army of volunteer cooks and will include Francis’s famous fruit cake. \nThis is a great chance to see Juniper Hall’s rarely open gardens. DESCRIPTION:Dr Paul Irish \nJoin us for the next in The Paddington Society’s Conversations series of events. \nDr Paul Irish will present a talk and discussion on Paul’s chapter\, Aboriginal Paddington\, from the book Paddington: A History. Copies of the book will also be available for sale at the event. \nDr Paul Irish is an experienced historian and the director of Coast History and Heritage. For more than 15 years\, he has been collaboratively researching Sydney’s Aboriginal history with researchers from the La Perouse Aboriginal community\, including the development of the 2015 NSW History Fellowship exhibition This Is Where They Travelled: Historical Aboriginal Lives in Sydney. \nHis 2017 book Hidden in Plain View: The Aboriginal People of Coastal Sydney won the NSW Premier’s History Award for Regional and Community History. \nBuy online or at event \nPaul is also an experienced archaeologist who worked for many years in all aspects of Aboriginal cultural heritage management. \nThis event is supported by the Paddington Library. \nTickets\n$10 Members\n$15 Non-Members\nTicket price includes wine and nibbles. \n\n	\n\n		\n		\n		\n\n		\n\n		\n\n\n\n	Tickets\n\n		\n	\n	\n		The numbers below include tickets for this event already in your cart. DESCRIPTION:The Paddington Society has been working to preserve Paddington’s heritage and amenity for 60 years. To celebrate this considerable achievement\, join us for Evening Drinks and Canapes from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday\, 6th November 2024\, at Victoria Barracks. \nEnjoy food and drinks and soak up the unique\, historical surroundings of Victoria Barracks. The regency-style Barracks is one of the best examples of military architecture. It was designed by Lieutenant-Colonel George Barney\, who also built Fort Denison. The barracks is a significant heritage site and home to the Headquarters of Forces Command. \nThe pedestrian entrance is from Oxford Street (open from 5:30pm)\, and parking is available in the Northern Carpark via the vehicle entrance on Moore Park Road. \nTickets: $60 Members; $70 Non-Members \nOptional Victoria Barracks Pre-Event Tour for Members\n \nAre you interested in the military history of New South Wales?
